We've been putting skis & boards back together since 1972. Let us give you an idea of what we do.

We repair skis and boards for most shops in Western Canada. Of course, we do state-of-the-art tune-ups and custom modifications to your equipment.

First in western Canada with BC's most technologically advanced machinery operated by BC's most experienced staff.

Tune-ups

Why tune your skis and boards? Because after a tune-up you will have more fun on the slopes! Click here for more details.

  1. Arrival/Evaluation: At this time an experienced technician performs an evaluation of the equipment . Options are then presented to the customer with specific attention to any major damage or problems.
  2. Major Repair Work: Any major base damage, delaminating and bends are repaired.
  3. Side Edge Rough Grinding: Initial resurfacing of the side edge is performed. This removes any burred areas and creates a sharp edge at the manufacturer's recommended angle or to an angle chosen by the customer.
  4. Disc Finish: The side edges are finished and polished as smooth as possible.
  5. Finish Grinding: The final texture is imprinted into the base.
  6. Tip & Tail Detuning: The sharpness is removed to blend into the running surface of the edge. This blending can be altered at home or on the hill with the minimum amount of effort.
  7. Polish Grinding: The base edge is polished to a smooth finish.
  8. Waxing: The board is waxed with a universal wax and is texture brushed for the best running ski surface.

Snowboard

In 1998, Vancouver Ski & Board Services introduced Stone Grinding for snowboards (first in western Canada).

Vancouver Ski & Board Services is the leader in snowboard tuning with the use of the new Wintersteiger Mercury tuning machine. The superior technology used in this machine will enable us to produce a consistent texture on the base of snowboards. We can also utilize our Sigma RS 350 race service machine for more hands on tuning of Boards that require specialized tuning techniques to get the glide and performance structure. The Sigma RS350 is the only machine with three separate pressure feed wheels enabling us to flatten and texture the board as it crosses the stone. It's the texture that creates glide. Magnatraction is no issue for our tuning equipment.

Bindings

We are one of the few service shops in B.C. that actually tests and calibrates all bindings we work on to be sure the binding is functioning within the manufacturers release specifications. We mount all industry accepted new and used alpine bindings as well as back country / telemark and cross country bindings.

Troubleshooting Tips

This section is done in a "problem, cause, solution" format. Refer to it if you are trying a self-diagnosis on your skis or snowboard. If you have any questions or doubts call us before you start your repair(s). It is much easier to bring it in if it is beyond your ability before you attempt your repair than to bring it in after an attempt that didn't quite work the way you thought it would. This chart is applicable for common ski and snowboard issues.
